SANBAO Ceramics Tools

SANBAO teamed up with Paso Design to launch their first in-house products, setting the visual tone for where their brand is headed. We worked side by side to rethink everyday studio tools, balancing functionality with an inviting, modern aesthetic. The launch included a friction-fit splash pan tool holder with removable dividers, and a set of stackable rim cones designed with stackability and ergonomics in mind. Clean approachable forms fit for ceramics studios led to quick adoption by the pottery community. Hundreds of units sold within the first months, with 10s of 5 star reviews following. Iterative prototyping on the tool holder ensured a firm and reliable fit on 4 different types of splash pans. This prevented sliding or tipping experienced on similar market products. The rim cones were balancing act of function ergonomics and aesthetics, attempting to bring as much comfort to the handles as possible, while maintining a pleasing silhouette and the desired stackability.
